You may have heard a rumour that we are closing down and unfortunately this is true. We are being evicted by the Tala Council, and although we know that we have right on our side we have been fighting this since February and if we were to take them to court it would take several years and in the mean time they would still be our landlords, and would not approve our applications to the authorities for licences.
We are very sad and are very grateful to you, our customers, for supporting us all these years – through power cuts & Covid but also the good times when the Amphitheatre has been buzzing with a good concert and queuing up for a lemonade or two! We are angry that our staff will lose their jobs, and we will lose the business that we have built up and tried to make like a ‘home from home’ for our many regulars and a hidden secret for tourists that find us by accident.
We are hoping to continue until the end of July, but the matter is with our lawyers, and we will inform you of our final operating date as soon as we know. In the meantime, we are still open for your great breakfast, delicious cream teas and tasty light bites etc, and hope to see you before we finally close.
