ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE PAPHOS TOURISM DEVELOPMENT & PROMOTION COMPANY
The Annual General Meeting of the Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Company was held with great success yesterday, Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at the Attikon multi-purpose hall in Paphos, and was held under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Tourism, Mr. Costas Koumis, who delivered a speech.
Mr. Koumis referred to the developments in tourism during the years 2024-2025 and the efforts made by the Deputy Ministry to further upgrade the industry and enrich the experiences offered. In his speech, he congratulated the Paphos Tourism Development and Promotion Company for its important work and emphasized the fact that Paphos as a destination is one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in the country. He called on all industry partners to continue the hard work, while not forgetting to mention the good and productive cooperation between the Deputy Ministry of Tourism and the Paphos Tourism Development and Promotion Company. Subsequently, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Paphos Regional Tourism Development and Promotion Company, Mr. Kyriakos Drousiotis, referred to the current conditions of tourism, while through audiovisual material, the work and action of the Tourism Development and Promotion Company for 2024 were briefly presented. He emphasized that the Agency's permanent strategy is the development of Paphos tourism, through the qualitative upgrade of the offered product, services and experiences. He analyzed the data and prospects of Paphos, the problems faced by the sector and submitted specific recommendations. As he pointed out, the goal is to establish Paphos as a high-quality tourist destination that will be in full operation all year round. Among other things, positions and suggestions were mentioned such as:
•Further improvement of accessibility (both by air and inland) •Strengthening the competitiveness of the services offered •Intensifying efforts to promote and publicize the destination •Upgrading and enriching the offered tourist experience with an emphasis on Cultural heritage and creativity •Investing in digitalization and technological tools •Expanding tourist markets •Particular emphasis on the development of Tourism and Rural experiences •Immediate implementation of integrated actions to curb urban sprawl and revitalize the countryside •Emphasis on the development of Sports Tourism •Support and encouragement for the employment of local personnel in the tourism industry The General Assembly was attended by the President of the Paphos Tourism Authority, the MP for Paphos from DISY, Mayors of Paphos and Hierokipia, representatives/Deputy Mayors of Akamas and Polis Chrysochous Municipalities, the Director General of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, Vice President of the CCCI, the President of the EVE, President of PASYXE of Paphos, Deputy Prefect of Paphos, Municipal Councillors of various Municipalities, Presidents and Members of Community Councils, representatives of governmental, semi-governmental organizations, bodies and associations, members of ETAP, hoteliers and other partners.
