The president of the Cyprus Electrical Contractors, Giorgos Kyriakou, called on Wednesday morning, through the Morning Route, the owners or tenants of buildings and electricity consumers in general to claim and ensure that they will be present during the change of their meter and the installation of a smart meter by an EAC crew!
Mr. Kyriakou argued that the problems with defective or dangerous installations are too many and there will be many dangerous incidents - fires or destruction of devices - during the installation of about 500 thousand smart meters. We are still at the beginning, said Mr. Kyriakou, and many dangerous incidents will happen.
Asked where his concerns are based, Mr. Kyriakou said that electricity owners and consumers, with their presence during the replacement of the meter, will be able to monitor the behaviour of their installation and devices after the installation of a smart meter and prevent the worst, even fires that are likely to break out. He also claimed that last week such a fire was already caused in a house.
