Their transfer to predetermined installation areas will begin on Monday, in collaboration with the technicians of the construction company who have been in Cyprus since the beginning of May. Based on the existing planning, the units will be placed as a priority in Limassol and Paphos, to cover the increased water needs due to the prolonged drought.
Specifically, desalination plants with a total capacity of 13,650 cubic meters will be installed in Limassol, while in Paphos units of 1,350 cubic meters will be installed, as well as an additional unit with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters. At the same time, the installation of mobile units is progressing in areas such as Garyllis and the Limassol Port, as well as in Kissonerga and Kouklia in Paphos, with a total additional capacity of 25,000 cubic meters.
The Water Development Department (TAY) is intensively implementing the necessary infrastructure works so that the units can be put into operation and provide us with water by the end of June. At the same time, it is planned to further strengthen the capacity within 2025 with additional mobile units, while the procedures for a permanent solution to the water supply problem are progressing.
The Ministry of Agriculture expresses its gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for its immediate response and strategic cooperation, referring to the tangible result of the active foreign policy of the Republic of Cyprus, which strengthens bilateral relations and offers positive results at home.
