MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway, Larnaca District, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the Limassol-Nicosia motorway, following the opening to traffic on Saturday morning 25/01/2025 of the Kalavasos bridge in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol, following the completion of its upgrade / repair, during the period 30/1/2025 - 15/5/2025, the corresponding upgrade / repair works of the bridge in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia will be carried out. During the course of the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction of Nicosia, approximately 1 km long, will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic. Also, the entrance to the motorway, heading towards Limassol from the old Limassol - Nicosia road at the Zygi junction will be closed and traffic from the old road to the motorway will be diverted via the Governor's Beach junction. On Monday 12/05/2025 and Tuesday 13/05/2025, from 21:00 at night until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road removal and resurfacing works will be carried out on the Limassol - Nicosia motorway, heading towards Nicosia. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway towards Nicosia will be closed, from the exit to Viomichaniki Idalion to the Latsia weighbridge, and traffic will be diverted to a lane in the opposite direction of traffic that will operate with two-way traffic. At the same time, the entrance to Nicosia on the Nicosia-Limassol motorway from the Perimeter motorway and the entrance to the motorway from the old Nicosia-Limassol road will also be closed. Drivers who would like to head from the Perimeter motorway to Nicosia are urged to enter the Aleppiana – Tseri road via the Viomichaniki Tseri interchange and then via the Intercity road (Old Nicosia-Limassol road) to head towards Nicosia. Accordingly, access to the Nicosia-Limassol motorway to Nicosia from the old Nicosia-Limassol road will be from the next Megalou Alexandrou interchange. Nicosia Perimeter Motorway Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway From Monday 05/05/2025 until Thursday 15/05/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, the Department of Forestry will carry out pruning and clearing of the vegetation of the central island on the motorway, from the Anthoupolis roundabout to the Denia roundabout. During the works, the right lane will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the left lane, at a distance of approximately 2 km. approximately in both directions. From Wednesday 14/5/2025 until Tuesday 20/5/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:00, maintenance work on the greenery of the islets will be carried out by the Forestry Department at the Kokkinotrimithia Interchange on the Nicosia – Akaki highway. During the execution of the work, the shoulder of the tangential traffic lane of the islet will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 100 – 200m, each time. Limassol-Paphos Motorway From Wednesday 23/4/2025 until Friday 23/5/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, grass cutting works will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes of the Limassol – Paphos Motorway (A6) in both directions. During the execution of the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will flow without hindrance in the traffic lanes. From Tuesday 13/5/2025 until Monday 19/5/2025, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends, periodic maintenance work will be carried out on a section of the Limassol - Paphos motorway. During the execution of the work, both lanes of the motorway in one direction will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic. During the above period, the works will be carried out as follows: (a) On Tuesday 13/5/2025 and Wednesday 14/5/2025, works will be carried out on the section of the motorway from the tunnel to Paramali, in the direction of Paphos. (b) On Thursday 15/5/2025 and Monday 19/5/2025, works will be carried out on the section of the motorway from Paramali to the tunnel, in the direction of Limassol. Nicosia District In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolos Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, from Friday 12/05/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and a section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolos Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Ippokratous Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their intersection with Themistokleous Street to Nikaias Street and Kentavrou Street respectively. In Lakatamia, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous Avenue, from Friday 07/02/2025 at 11:00 in the morning, and for a period of approximately 4 months, part of Karavostasiou Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, from its junction with Agiou Amvrosiou Street to its junction with Ippokratous Avenue. All movements to and from Ippokratous Avenue will be via Vatylis Street. Traffic from Themistokleous Street to Ippokratous Avenue and vice versa will be via Nikaias Street. As part of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou, and Strovolos avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 at 11:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 5 months, the intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025: Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue. Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel towards Larnakos Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.
In Nicosia and Engomi, on Griva Digeni Avenue, on Monday 12/05/2025 and Tuesday 13/05/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, removal and resurfacing works of the existing road surface will be carried out. During the works, the section of Griva Digeni Avenue from the traffic light-controlled intersection with Agios Prokopios Street (across from Metochi Kykkos) to the corresponding intersection with Prodromos Avenue, in that direction, will be closed to traffic police. Drivers heading towards the City Center are urged to follow the route via Agios Prokopios, Metochiou and Prodromos Streets to return to Griva Digeni Avenue.
In Nicosia, on Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue, 12/05/2025 – 22/05/2025 daily, except Fridays and weekends, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out. During the As part of the works, a traffic lane will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. During the works, there will be appropriate temporary signage for the smooth flow of traffic.
Limassol District
Larnaca District
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, within the framework of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", traffic, from the height of the LEBAY hotel to the Radisson Beach hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, from 24 April 2025 and for two months, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon streets to Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
Paphos District
On the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road, between the communities of Stroumpio-Giolou, from Monday 12/05/2025 until Friday 23/05/2025, including the weekend, drilling work will be carried out for geotechnical survey purposes. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections for a distance of approximately 60m. and traffic management will be carried out using a temporary mobile traffic light system. Each section of the road will remain closed throughout the period of the works (including at night).
On the old Paphos-Limassol road, during the period 13/05/2024 – 12/05/2025 (for 12 months), construction work will be carried out to stabilize a section of the road, opposite Petra tou Romiou (near the CTO refreshment bar in Petra tou Romiou). During the works, the section of the road being reconstructed will not be available to traffic. There will be continuous and unhindered traffic police traffic on both sides of the construction site boundaries. Traffic on the old Paphos-Limassol road from Paphos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Paphos from the Pissouri exit, on the Paphos-Limassol motorway.
Also on the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the section near Petra tou Romiou, construction work on road stabilization measures will be carried out between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025. Specifically, the works will be carried out to stabilize the slope and the road surface, as part of the 2nd Phase of the works being carried out on the road, following the major landslides that had occurred since 2019. During the works period, 17/06/2024-16/06/2025, a section of the old Limassol-Paphos road, near Petra tou Romiou, will be temporarily closed to traffic in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol. The temporary signage will be the same as in the 1st Phase of Works. Specifically, the necessary signage and information will be placed on the parallel section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, as well as on the two cut-off sections on the old Limassol-Paphos road, near the western Pissouri-Petra tou Romiou exit and near the Kouklia exit, to inform drivers intending to head towards Petra tou Romiou.
