The missile launched by the Yemen rebel group, reportedly fell inside the Ben Gurion airport perimeter in Tel Aviv, resulting in minor injuries to three people.
According to Israel’s emergency medical services, the eight injured include a 50-year-old man and a 54-year-old woman who were hurt by the blast, as well as a 32-year-old woman who was injured while running for shelter.
The ballistic missile, which Israeli forces said they attempted to intercept unsuccessfully, landed in a grove.
Temporary Flight Suspension
An investigation is underway regarding the impact in the area of Ben Gurion Airport.
According to established procedures, a temporary freeze had been imposed on arrivals and departures,” the Israel Airports Authority said in a statement.
Airport operations were quickly restored, with air traffic returning to normal.
Threats of Retaliation from Israel
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, issued a stern warning following the attack: “We will respond sevenfold to those who harm us.”
Until recently, Israel had held back from responding to attacks from Yemen’s Houthis, as the United States is already engaged in a large-scale operation against the pro-Iranian organisation.
