The last preparations are being completed at a feverish pace on the ferry-passenger ship Daleela, which is anchoring for the fourth consecutive year, successfully continuing the maritime connection between Cyprus and Greece. Its first voyage for 2025 is scheduled for noon on Saturday, May 31, from the port of Limassol, carrying 187 passengers, 66 vehicles, 36 motorcycles and 8 pets.
According to Charalambos Manolis, one of the directors of the management company, the ship has been renovated, with changes to the saloon and the installation of new carpets. Also, there are thoughts of organizing some events during the trip.
Ticket reservations for the ship's 22 routes have reached 6,500 to date, while about 2,000 vehicles will be transported for the time being. Mr. Manolis noted that everything is ready for the first trip of 2025, expressing that this year will also exceed the most optimistic forecasts in demand.
As for the August routes, they are already sold out, while available tickets remain for the months of June and July. For this year, there is a very small increase in the price of the ticket, of the order of one euro, while the transport of bicycles is free. Daleela will operate 22 routes for this season, with the last one scheduled for September 2, from Piraeus.
It is recalled that the Council of Ministers decided in August 2024 to extend the Convention for the Maritime Passenger Connection between Cyprus and Greece until 2027, based on the numbers of passengers carried from 2022 to 2024. During the three years of operation of the line, a total of 22,582 passengers, 7,641 vehicles and 772 pets travelled with Daleela, numbers that prove that the sea connection is here to stay.
The line has been particularly loved by passengers who find it difficult to travel by air – for reasons of health, age or aerophobia – offering an alternative to travel to Greece with their own vehicle.
