Passenger traffic in April 2025 exceeded the milestone of 1 million for the first time, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works said in a statement, noting that the percentage increase compared to the corresponding period of 2024 amounts to 20.66%.
Expressing satisfaction, the Ministry of Transport notes that Larnaca and Paphos airports welcomed 1,157,414 passengers during April 2025, recording an increase of 20.66% compared to the corresponding period of 2024, while the largest passenger traffic over time for the period January – April continues to be presented, with an increase of 11.83% compared to 2024.
"The results of April 2025, during which for the first time the number of passengers handled through Larnaca and Paphos airports exceeded one million, are the seal of the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, Hermes Airports Ltd, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, as well as all stakeholders in the tourism industry. These results confirm that the strategy for extending the tourist season is paying off, with already tangible results and benefits in the current year," he says.
According to the Ministry of Transport, passenger volume at Larnaca Airport increased by 23.05%, while at Paphos Airport it increased by 15.51% compared to 2024.
"With the main markets being those of the United Kingdom, Greece, Israel, Poland and Germany, aircraft traffic increased by 12.68% compared to 2024 and amounted to 8,756 flights," the Ministry notes.
The largest increase in absolute numbers was recorded for Larnaca Airport on routes with Israel, United Kingdom, Greece, Poland, Armenia. At Paphos Airport, increases were observed in the routes with Israel, the United Kingdom, Jordan, Poland and Germany, it says.
"On the other hand, the largest reductions were recorded at Larnaca Airport from Finland, Belgium, Jordan, Lithuania and Estonia, while at Paphos Airport from France, Estonia, Slovakia, Greece and Romania," the announcement added.
