The animal was received by the competent services for further examination.
The 36-year-old was transferred to the Deryneia Police Station, where it was found that he was residing on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus illegally, after his request for asylum had been rejected in 2022.

Update: The 36-year-old from Cameroon, who was arrested yesterday in the parking lot of an apartment building in Deryneia, was placed under eight-day detention by the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni, shortly after the Police were informed that two foreigners were chopping up, in plain sight, a kangaroo with the use of knives.
For the case, another person of African origin who managed to escape from the scene is being sought, while examinations are being carried out to determine who sold the animal to foreigners. Their goal, as reported to the Police, was to consume the kangaroo meat, which is so far unknown whether it was delivered to them alive or dead.
The unprecedented case was revealed yesterday when police officers found plastic bags containing a dismembered kangaroo, an axe and five knives in the parking lot of the apartment building.
The 36-year-old interrogator reported that the animal had been picked up by another person in the Paralimni area. The corpse was picked up by the veterinary services in order to perform an autopsy.
It is recalled that the 36-year-old was transferred to the Deryneia Police Station, where it was found that he was residing on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus illegally, after his request for asylum had been rejected in 2022.
