Pafos Live 28 May 2025
According to the customs department, after an investigation in 3 premises in the tourist area of Kato Paphos, around 4,170 pieces of clothing and accessories (watches, glasses, hats, bags, wallets, etc.) were found, which were sold in the market to mislead consumers as authentic. Also, during the search of the premises, 370 packages with nicotine sachets were found, for which there was no relevant authorization for their sale on the market.
All the products were confiscated, after the owners of the premises admitted the offenses and abandoned them for destruction.
The Customs Department once again appeals to the public to be particularly careful when purchasing products, since there are thousands of products on the market that are not authentic and therefore do not meet the specifications of the products in relation to the brand they copy. In general, we should know that counterfeit products:
· They are produced in miserable conditions often with forced young children pushed to work.
· They are dangerous or harmful to human health and safety, with some of them even causing death.
· The proceeds of the counterfeit trade are used in most cases to finance organised crime and terrorism.
