The Paphos Police arrested a 46-year-old person at noon on May 1, who arrived at Paphos Airport and was identified as a wanted person by the Moldovan authorities.

According to the police, an international arrest warrant was pending against him.

Today, Friday, he is expected to be brought before the Paphos District Court for the start of the extradition process to Moldova.

As part of the efforts to combat the illegal employment and employment of foreign persons, a coordinated operation was carried out today by members of the Aliens and Immigration Service, in cooperation with members of the Directorate for the Surveillance of the Green Line and the Response to Migration Flows.

The operation took place on construction sites of apartment buildings under construction, in a village in the Larnaca district. During the checks, a total of nine persons were found to be working, six of whom were found to be residing in the Republic of Cyprus illegally, while two of them are asylum seekers, with their applications being examined.

The above persons were arrested for the offenses of illegal employer-employment, while their employers were also summoned to the police station for questioning.

Officers of the Inspection Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance, who were summoned for their own responsibilities, identified, after relevant checks, violations regarding undeclared work.

Employers were issued notices of fines, totalling thirty-six thousand euros (€36,000).

The Police, in cooperation with the competent state services, continues the coordinated actions to combat illegal employment and employment.

On 30/4/2025, Customs officers at Paphos Airport, after assessing information, proceeded to inspect the luggage of two departing foreign passengers bound for the United Kingdom. In the luggage of one passenger, 70 boxes of 200 cigarettes were found and in the luggage of the other passenger, 402 packets of 50 grams of rolling tobacco (20Kg and 100 gr.) were found. The tobacco products did not bear health warnings in Greek and Turkish, indicating that they were duty-free.  

The two passengers were arrested for flagrant offenses, while their luggage and contents were confiscated. The next day they were brought to the Paphos District Court, which issued a 4-day detention order. The cases are being investigated by the Customs Department.

In the context of the investigation of a case of arson of a vehicle committed on 5/4/25 in Oroklini, after examinations carried out, testimony was obtained against a foreigner, 35 years old, a permanent resident of Nicosia, that he is involved in the case.

Yesterday around 16:30, after a coordinated operation involving the Nicosia Police Department, Information Management and Analysis Service (YDAP) Nicosia and the Larnaca TAE in Nicosia, the above suspect was arrested at his home.

From a subsequent search at the home of the potential court search warrant, the sum of €4,550 in various banknotes was found and received as evidence.

The suspect is expected to appear tomorrow before the Larnaca District Court for the issuance of a detention order.

The TAE of Larnaca continues the exams.

The Limassol Police Department arrested a 27-year-old man for the offense of demanding money with threats, following a complaint by a 20-year-old with whom he was in a relationship. According to the complaint, the offences were allegedly committed between 24 and 29 April 2025.

The suspect, according to the Police, demanded the amount of €20,000 from the complainant, citing expenses he had incurred during their relationship, while allegedly threatening her to secure the said amount.

The 27-year-old was arrested under a court warrant and appeared today before the Limassol District Court. The Court issued a three-day detention order against him.

The TAE Limassol continues its examinations.

The Larnaca District Court today issued an eight-day detention order against a 35-year-old man, a permanent resident of Nicosia, was arrested for facilitating the Police investigations regarding an investigated case involving the arson of a vehicle committed in April in Oroklini, Larnaca district.

According to Christodoulos Consolos, spokesperson of the Larnaca Police Department, "after examinations carried out, in the context of an investigation into a case of arson of a vehicle committed on April 5, 2025 in Oroklini, testimony was obtained against a foreigner, aged 35, permanent resident of Nicosia, that he is involved in the case".

He added that "around 16:30 on Thursday, May 1st, after a coordinated operation that took place in Nicosia and in which members of the Nicosia Police and Police Department and the Larnaca Police Department participated, the 35-year-old suspect was located and arrested at his home".

From a subsequent search of his home "pursuant to a court search warrant, the sum of €4,550 in various banknotes was found and received as evidence".

The suspect was brought today before the Larnaca District Court, which issued a detention order against him for eight days.

The TAE of Larnaca continues the exams.

The Police in Limassol proceeded to the arrest of a 47-year-old man, who allegedly lit fires in garbage bins on Agias Fylaxeos Street.

An arrest warrant was pending against the suspect in connection with a case of burglary and theft, committed on March 27, 2025, during which a laptop worth €1,800 was stolen.

Scientific testimony had emerged against the suspect, resulting in the issuance of an arrest warrant and his search.

The 47-year-old appeared today before the Limassol District Court, which issued a four-day detention order.

The TAE Limassol continues its examinations.
