A special committee that has already been set up by the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki will study the data in order to see if a branch of the academic institution can operate in Paphos.
Speaking to "F", the professor of the Faculty of Engineering of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and member of its Board of Directors, Stratos Stylianides, revealed that the rector's authorities are in consultation with the authorities of the city of Paphos in order to see if this development is possible.
It is, he said, a proposal by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedonos, to the University Council, which he conveyed and a decision was taken to investigate it, he stressed.
According to Stratos Stylianides, who himself comes from Paphos, the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki has set up a Committee that will investigate the possibility of operating a branch in the city of Aphrodite and will submit its proposal in the coming months.
He estimated that the decision will be taken within 2025 and mentioned that there are suitable infrastructures in the city for this purpose, such as the building of the Pafos Innovation Institute, so that the faculties of the branch can operate immediately.
As Mr. Stylianides stressed, according to Cypriot legislation, the operation of at least three faculties of an academic institution is required in order to obtain a license to operate a branch in Cyprus.
