The Police – Cybercrime Sub-Directorate, recommends special attention to the public, following a number of reports it has received from citizens, regarding fraud by persons who falsely present themselves as government service officials.
The perpetrators in particular, with phone calls from mobile and landline phone numbers, communicate with citizens and falsely present themselves as officials of government services and specifically of Social Insurance and guide citizens to take some actions aimed at extracting money from them through bank cards.
The public is invited to be particularly careful and take the following protective measures:
• Do NOT respond to the calls and instructions received from the perpetrators
• Not to disclose to other persons sensitive information such as passwords, usage codes and PIN codes, identity details and bank card and account details
• Citizens can verify the identity of the people who call them by communicating through the official channels of the Services that these individuals claim to represent.
