POLICE - INCREASED POLICE PRESENCE ON ROADS OVER EASTER

POLICE - INCREASED PRESENCE ON THE ROADS OVER EASTER

The Cyprus Police, as every year, during the festive period of Easter and Resurrection, will take increased road safety measures, with the aim of protecting citizens who will be traveling on the road network. Due to the expected increased traffic during the festive period, between Holy Thursday and Easter Monday, 17 – 21 April, the presence of the Police on the main roads of the cities, on the interurban roads and on the motorways, will be intense, with the Police personnel working continuously with increased patrols, traffic regulation, as well as traffic controls, to prevent road traffic collisions and increase safety on the road network. During traffic checks, as always, zero tolerance will be shown for violations that constitute the main causes of serious and fatal traffic collisions, such as exceeding the speed limit, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, failure to use seat belts by drivers and passengers of cars and protective helmets by motorcyclists, distraction by using a mobile phone or other object while driving, and dangerous overtaking. The Police recommends that drivers be careful when driving, adhere to the Highway Code and comply with traffic signs and the instructions of police officers on duty.
