The impressive first place of the Israelis comes after their entry into the top three, in terms of the country of origin with the most arrivals in Cyprus. The Israelis also have the highest daily expenditure of those who visited our island in February.
More specifically, the Statistical Service yesterday released the data in relation to the revenues of the first two months from tourism, with the results being extremely encouraging, following those of arrivals. Specifically, tourism revenues in February 2025 amounted to €79.7 million, showing an increase of 22.4% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (€65.1 million), while in the first two months of the year the increase was 35%.
For the period January – February 2025, tourism revenues are estimated at €148.9 million. compared to €110.3 million in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 35%. An important role in these results was played by the increase in per capita and daily expenditure of tourists. In particular, in February 2025, expenditure per capita amounted to €595.71, compared to €521.01 in February 2024, an increase of 14.3%. The surprise in terms of the highest per capita expenditure was made by tourists from Lebanon with €783.94. However, the number of tourists in question is small enough to have a significant impact on total revenues. In fact, tourists from Lebanon are in second place in terms of daily spending. In second place in terms of per capita expenditure were tourists from the United Kingdom with €697.46 and in third place tourists from Israel with per capita expenditure at €690.40.
As far as daily expenditure is concerned, the first and by far the tourists from Israel are the first. According to Statistics data, tourists from Israel recorded a daily expenditure of €203.06, compared to €113.36 in February 2024. In second place in this category are tourists from Lebanon with €101.81. Of course, it is noted that in February, 19,194 tourists from Israel arrived in Cyprus, and only 1,918 tourists from Lebanon. In third place in terms of daily spending, were tourists from Austria with €97.81. British tourists (the largest tourist market with 24.8% of all tourists in February 2025) spent an average of €73.42 per day, while Polish tourists (the second largest tourist market during this month with 15.1% of the total) spent an average of €71.07.
It is recalled that tourist arrivals in February 2025 amounted to 133,760 compared to 125,034 in February 2024, recording an increase of 7.0%. For the period January – February 2025, tourist arrivals amounted to 245,860 compared to 212,995 in the corresponding period of 2024, recording an increase of 15.4%. Arrivals from the United Kingdom were the main source of tourism for February 2025, accounting for 24.8% (33,115) of total arrivals, arrivals from Poland 15.1% (20,165), arrivals from Israel 14.3% (19,194) and arrivals from Greece 8.2% (10,978).
