The desalination plant in the coastal area of Mandria-Kouklia, which was destroyed by a fire, will reopen from the beginning of August.
The assurance was given to the president of the Paphos HOA, Charalambos Pittokopitis, by the administrators of the unit who are working, as they said intensively, for the reopening of the unit, which this year is more necessary than ever to meet the needs for drinking water in the Paphos district.
The main sources of water supply in the province at the moment are the two water refineries in the Asprokremos and Kannaviou dams, with their reserves, however, having decreased below 30% of their capacity.
Mr. Pittokopitis said that at the same time, the water development department has engaged in a struggle to find new sources of drinking water supply, mainly from inactive boreholes, expressing optimism that this difficult year will be covered with the necessary prudent management of water by all.
