CRIME ROUND UP

The Anti-Narcotics Service is investigating three different cases of illegal importation and possession of narcotics against a 29-year-old man from the Famagusta district.

The first case concerns the receipt of two packages at Post Offices of the Nicosia and Famagusta Districts, which came from a foreign country around mid-March and contained a total of two kilos of cannabis.

The second case was committed on 03/04/2025 in the Larnaca District, during which 11.5 kilos of cannabis were found and confiscated.

As for the third case, it is an investigation conducted yesterday by members of the Ministry of Transport, in a warehouse of a courier company, where a total of eight kilos of cannabis were found and confiscated in two boxes coming from abroad.

For all three cases, testimony was obtained against a 29-year-old man from the Famagusta district, against whom a court arrest warrant was issued. The 29-year-old was arrested by the British Bases Police and there is an ongoing process for his surrender to the Police Authorities of the Republic.

The Police today proceeded to the arrest of another person, aged 52, in the context of an investigation into a case of joint attack, threat, and malicious damage to property, which was committed on Sunday in Paphos, before the Paphos-APOEL match.

Photographs of the person who has been arrested were released by the Police yesterday in order to collect information that could lead to his location. For the same case, a third person is also wanted from Nicosia.
