The 35-year-old manager of the apartment complex in Oroklini was detained for a period of eight days, in which serious incidents occurred yesterday that resulted in the critical injury of a 27-year-old foreigner and the serious injury of a two-month-old infant. The suspect faces offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, causing grievous bodily harm and injury.
According to what was said before the court during the detention proceedings around 10:30 yesterday, a foreigner called the Police and reported that a group of 15 people rushed to the apartment complex and on behalf of the owner tried to remove them. Members of the Police rushed to the scene and found that the tension had eased. However, at 12:30 p.m., new serious incidents began in the area between the immigrants and the group of persons allegedly recruited by the 35-year-old, who, according to the complaints, wore hoods and masks, while holding knives and other sharp objects.
Reinforcements were called on the spot and according to the Police, migrants began to throw stones at members, while in order to control the tension, tear gas was used. Subsequently, the 27-year-old from Congo was found bloodied on a main road of Oroklini, who, as can be seen in a video circulated on the internet, was taken there by other persons. From the incidents, the infant was injured as well as his father, who has a wound to the hand. All were transferred to Larnaca Hospital.
The 27-year-old, due to a serious head injury, was intubated and transferred to the Nicosia General Hospital, where he is hospitalized in critical condition. As for the infant, he was transferred to the Makarios Hospital.
As the investigator of the case reported, the examinations found that about 15 people tried to remove the immigrants from the area, according to the complaints, under the instructions of the 35-year-old, who allegedly coordinated the operation. It is noted that the space was recently sold to a foreign investor. According to migrant testimonies to Filenews, the people who were recruited to evict them were carrying knives and axes, with which they broke the doors of apartments.
The court was also told that there is information about other injured persons from the serious incidents and tests are being carried out to locate them in private clinics. The Police are looking for other people in the case and are collecting testimonies from residents and videos circulated on the internet.

The Police of the British Bases of Dhekelia today proceeded to issue a detention order for two days against a 29-year-old man, who was arrested as part of the investigation of a case of transporting 11.5 kilograms of cannabis.
As stated in the Police announcement, the Anti-Narcotics Service (YKAN), after evaluating information and coordinated actions, managed to locate and confiscate the quantity of drugs on Friday, April 4 in the Larnaca area.
Then, in cooperation with members of the British Bases, the YKAN proceeded to the arrest of the 29-year-old man, who was taken today, Saturday, April 5, to the Court of the British Bases of Dhekelia. The Court issued a detention order for two days, while the Ministry of Justice continues its investigations to fully clarify the case.

Four minors are allegedly involved in a case of injury with an 18-year-old's kitchen knife, with whom they had personal differences.
In the incredible incident, according to information from filenews, 16-year-old and 17-year-old foreigners seem to be involved.
The four of them argued late last Friday night with the 18-year-old in a community in the free area of Famagusta. Subsequently, one of them allegedly pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the young man in the shoulder blade.
The 18-year-old was transferred to a private clinic, where after his wound was sutured, he was discharged.
After examinations, the Police proceeded to the arrest of a 17-year-old, while three more persons aged 16 and 17 are being sought, for one of whom an arrest warrant was issued.
The suspect was brought before the Larnaca District Court in the morning, which, in a closed-door procedure, ordered his detention for a period of eight days.
The Police are investigating a case of injury, possession of an offensive instrument and conspiracy to commit a felony. As we were told, due to the fact that minors are involved in the incident, the Police will not make statements on the matter.

A foreigner, who was arrested, allegedly hit a woman on the head with a bottle of zivania who was walking with her 6-year-old child on Protaras Avenue.
The incident was reported last Wednesday, when a woman of African descent was found injured on the street with her daughter next to her.
The woman was taken by ambulance to the A&E Department of Famagusta Hospital, where it was found that she had suffered a craniocerebral injury. She was subsequently discharged and reported that her compatriot, whom she knew, followed her and hit her on the head with a bottle.
The suspect was pursued by another person. In his attempt to escape, he fell to the ground and then fled. At the point of his fall, according to what was said in the court to which he was taken in the morning, a bag was found in which there were three military cartridges, a knife and his personal documents.
The photo of the suspect, who is homeless, had been published by the Police and was wanted. Yesterday he was located and arrested in Paralimni. The Larnaca District Court to which he was taken in the morning ordered his detention for three days.
