Supporters of a specific group today vandalized public spaces in the center of Paphos, causing the immediate reaction of the Mayor of Paphos.
In his complaint, Phaedon Phaedon spoke of 50 people, "alleged fans" of a specific club who destroy public property with spray on their hands.
The Mayor of Paphos stressed that although the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection does not allow the Municipality to activate the cameras it has installed, the municipal authority will protect public property, whether they want to or not.
He called on the Police to intervene immediately, pointing out: "The Police must wake up".
Intervention of the Deputy Mayor of Paphos
The worst seems to have been avoided, thanks to the immediate and on-the-spot intervention of the Deputy Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforos, who intervened in the fire brigade and advisory in cases of similar actions of small groups of fans, while he immediately called the Police before the situation became disorderly.
"We have no problem with free expression and love for your team. But when it is expressed on foreign properties and public buildings, then we are not talking about passion, we are talking about lack of respect", was the message of the Deputy Mayor of Paphos to these people.
The property of the Municipality belongs to all of us. It is not a canvas for anyone who wants to leave their "signature", said Angelos Onisiforou after the normalization of the situation, pointing out that only with coordination, respect and common sense will we move forward.
The situation had begun to escalate from noon in Paphos when these fans vandalized public spaces in the center of Paphos, destroying public property with spray in their hands.
After the intervention of the Deputy Mayor of Paphos to the Police, the force that will police the Paphos-APOEL match was decided to be strengthened inside and outside Stelios Kyriakidis.
