Tours to nature study trails by the Forest Department during the weekend of March 22-23, 2025 on the occasion of the International Day of Forests (March 21)
The Forest Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment informs the public that on the occasion of the International Day of Forests, the following will be guided tours to various nature study trails. Those who are interested can take part in the tours.
Forest Region of Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta
March 22 and 23, 2025 (08:30-10:00): Tour on the path of studying the nature of the old settlement of Helidonia. Starting point is the starting point of the trail, Lythrodontas road - Mantra of Kabios excursion area (at a distance of 1.3 km from the excursion area).
Troodos Forest Region
22/03/25 (09:00-13:00): Tour on the nature study path "Artemi". Starting points are the start of the path, 300m from the connecting point of the road to Chionistra with the road Troodos - Prodromou.
23/03/25 (9:00-13:00): Tour on the nature study path "Kyparissia". Starting point is the beginning of the trail, about 5 km from the main road Parekklisia - Kellaki through dirt roads and forest roads.
23/03/25 (09:00-13:00): Guided tour of the nature study trail "Xyliatos Dam". Starting point is the beginning of the trail at Xyliatos dam, about 2 km south of the community of Xyliatos.
Forest Region of Paphos
22/3/2025 (9:00-12:00): Tour on the nature study trail "Pissouromoutti". Starting point is the beginning of the trail, Smigion excursion area, 2.5 km west of the Neo Chorion village, within the Akama National Forest Park.
2. It is noted that March 21 has been proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the "International Day of Forests", thus designating a common day of celebration for all UN member states, aiming to further raise awareness of forests and the need for sustainable management of them. For this year, the UN has adopted "Forests and Food" as a theme on the International Day of Forests.
3. The main event for the International Day will take place at the Centre for Environmental Information and Maritime Education, on Friday, March 21, 2025, at 11:00 am. The event will be attended by the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and the Environment, who will address a greeting.
