Cyprus Mail 10 March 2025
The last day to renew vehicle circulation permits for the year 2025 is Tuesday, March 11 at midnight, the Ministry of Transport announced.
As of March 6, permits for 627,024 vehicles had been renewed, according to the Department of Road Transport (Tom).
Registration permits can be renewed for a period of three, six, nine and twelve months, while any permits applied for after Tuesday will be subject to €10 fine, as well as an added ten per cent of the amount due for the current year.
Owners who renewed their vehicle registration for the year 2024 but do not intend to renew it for the year 2025 must submit a notice to the road transport department for the vehicle’s immobilisation. Immobilisation can also be done online on the department’s website here. http://rtd.mcw.gov.cy
Vehicles whose registration permit had not been renewed for the year 2024 and which have not been declared as immobilised will be deleted from the Tom register if the amount due for the year 2024 is not paid and their 2025 registration permit is not renewed.
In the event of the vehicle’s destruction an application for cancellation of the vehicle registration (Form 98A) must be submitted to Tom accompanied by a certificate of destruction, issued by a licensed scrap metal facility, in order to exempt the owner from fees commencing the date of destruction.
Finally, the department recalled that no notices of fees due had been sent out and owners are called to update their contact details on the Tom registry in order to receive communication.
