Projects to upgrade and build new schools in the city and district of Pafos in excess of €15 million were announced last night by the President of the Republic during the unveiling ceremony of the bust of the pioneer of education in the district, Kostas Liasidis.
President Christodoulides referred to ongoing projects in Timi, Chloraka and Paphos, as well as to plans for the creation of a new High School in the Anavargo District and a new regional Primary School and Kindergarten in the wider area of Pegeia. At the same time, according to the President of the Republic, an expansion of the Lyceum and the Technical and Vocational School of Education and Training of Polis Chrysochous is planned, while the expansion of the Lyceum and the TESEK of Agios Charalambos Emba is being studied.
He also announced a decision of the Council of Ministers for the definitive conversion of the First Kindergarten and the 7th Primary School in Paphos into a new, modern Gymnasium and a new Primary School, based on a request from almost all local actors. The implementation of these educational infrastructures was deemed absolutely necessary, as it will meet the increased educational needs of the wider urban area of Pafos, ensuring the provision of a high level of education after the rapid population rise, the President of the Republic said.
For Kostas Liasidis, he noted that he not only lived the important historical events of his time, but was also part of history. The charismatic and beloved educator, with his hard work and combative contribution, concluded, put his own stamp on the educational, social and religious life of our country, contributing robustly to the healthy development and progress of the New Generation.
