Filenews 6 March 2025
An attempt to introduce a large quantity of mobile phones into the cells was stopped by the Police, the management and the staff members of the Central Prison.
Filenews reports that after coordinated actions that lasted for days, a significant number of mobile phones was found in a small refrigerator ordered by a prisoner.
The information refers to 14 mobile phones that were packed inside the refrigerator, intended for a specific convict.
Before the detection of the mobile phones, the entire course of the order made by this particular convict had been systematically monitored, since suspicions were raised that he might be trying to import illegal items into prisons.
After excellent cooperation between the Police and the Prisons, which is part of the new strict measures to combat the introduction of illegal objects into the cells, it was possible to locate the mobile phones.
Specifically, this morning, after the small refrigerator arrived at the prison warehouse sealed, it was opened, resulting in the detection of the 14 mobile phones.
All have been confiscated and the procedures laid down in prison regulations for this prisoner will now be followed.
It is noted that prisoners are allowed to have small individual refrigerators in their cells for their daily needs and occasionally ask for the replacement of the existing one, as happened in this case.
