Taxi drivers will go on a four-hour work stoppage, only in the Limassol district, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
According to a relevant announcement, the Board of Directors of the Pancyprian Federation of Urban Taxis (POAT), held an extraordinary session on the problems that have been preoccupying the profession for several years and since no problem has found its solution, on the contrary the problems are growing, it decided to go down as a first measure to this work stoppage.
The goal in itself is not to inconvenience the public but to highlight the problems of our profession, which is why the choice of the time of the work stoppage was made so as not to affect students and employees, as well as the choice of the city so as not to affect the passengers of the airports.
This decision was taken after many pressures from our members who see on a daily basis in the streets, squares, ports and airports private and other services stealing their bread, stealing from the state (Social Insurance – Taxes – VAT) and no state service, while they are aware of the above issue, has so far done its job properly to protect professional Urban Taxi drivers from pirates (Law 47( I)2024).
In case they continue to be indifferent and we do not see anything changing (Policing – Supervision – Undeclared Work) then we will come to an extraordinary General Assembly in 3 weeks to take more dynamic measures throughout Cyprus.
