After 43 years, the coastal road from the municipal boundaries of Paphos to the tourist area of Coral Bay in Peyia is entering its implementation course. The project was first planned in 1981 but its construction had not progressed.
The regulatory plan has been approved and the planning is the call for tenders in 2026. Government departments and scholars are coordinating in order to "mature" a very important project for Paphos. The reconstruction of the coastal road from the municipal boundaries of Paphos, the Tombs of the Kings area, to the Coral Bay. This road, in the western lowlands, gathers almost 30% of the tourist accommodation in the province and yet in many places it does not have street lighting and sidewalks. Paphos MP Charalambos Pazaros expressed his satisfaction with the development, stressing that the continuous efforts and pressures over the last three years are bearing fruit. The cost of the project is estimated to exceed forty million euros and will be executed in two phases.
The project will include 4 8 km long traffic lanes, a central islet, bicycle lanes, pavements, sidewalks, lanes and green spaces, and sidewalks. It will also include 7 level roundabouts and 8 light-controlled intersections.
