AN END TO DEBATE ON PRESCRIPTIONS FROM DOCTORS OUTSIDE GESY - LEGISLATION AMENDED

 Filenews 28 March 2025

By a majority, the Plenary Session of the Parliament amended the law governing the operation of the General Health System, thus putting an end to any discussion on granting the right to doctors outside the GHS to prescribe within the System.

An amending bill of the Ministry of Health was put before the Plenary Session, which had been discussed in the morning by the parliamentary Committee on Health.

It is recalled that the need to amend the GHS legislation was deemed necessary after the Court decision that vindicated a citizen who had claimed the provision of his medicines by the System with a prescription from his non-GHS doctor.

The amendment was voted against by ELAM MPs and DIKO MP Zacharias Koulias.
