The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across the island, effective from 12:00 to 18:00 today.
The alert primarily covers mountainous areas, inland regions and potentially southern parts of Cyprus, where isolated but intense thunderstorm cells are expected to develop during the afternoon hours, it said.
According to the alert, rainfall intensity could reach between 35 and 55 millimetres per hour in affected areas, potentially causing localised flooding and travel disruptions during the six-hour warning period.
The thunderstorms may be accompanied by hailstorms in some locations and strong winds.
