There has been an increase in SMS fraud recently, according to the Cybercrime Subdivision.
Specifically, as the public is informed, fraudsterssend mass SMS messages with random recipients, falsely pretending to be the cryptocurrency exchange company – Binance, stating that unauthorized access to their account from another country was detected, asking citizens to contact immediately the phone number stated in the suspicious message.
The purpose of fraudsters is to deceive the public and give away their account passwords.
The police inform the public that this is a scam and that the messages are fake.
The public is asked to be particularly careful and not to respond if such a message is received.
Use two-factor security for all online accounts and NEVER hand over their passwords and access details to any third party.
