Representatives of the community of Kissonerga, which is now a municipal district of the municipality of Akamas, demand that the state move quickly for the construction of a mobile desalination plant in the area of Potima.
The local officials who discussed the issue last night in the presence of the deputy mayor of Kissonerga, Nikolas Theodosiou, believe that in order to radically address the problem, the state should take care to create additional stable drinking water production units that will cover the drinking water needs of the entire province. They also propose the installation of the unit not in the coastal area, as planned, but north of the Paphos-Coral Bay road, also on a gravel block, in order to avoid problems in the coming years and with the planned development in the area with the creation of the Marina.
It is noted that the water development department is proceeding with the procedures for finding a contractor who will undertake the creation and operation of the plant. The contract will provide for the operation of the plant in seven months from the day of award, but financial incentives will be given in case of operation in a shorter period of time.
