 Filenews 22 February 2025

The Cybercrime Sub-Directorate has received a number of reports from citizens related to phone calls in which the perpetrators pose as officers of a well-known online banking institution (Revolut).

Specifically, the perpetrators say that the citizens' account will be deactivated if they do not declare their personal and banking details during the call. If the victim provides this information, the perpetrators steal the available balances from their bank accounts.

The public is requested to be particularly careful and to take the following protection measures:

• Do NOT respond to calls and instructions received from perpetrators
• Do not disclose sensitive information such as passwords, one-time passwords, PINs, account details, identity details and bank card/account
details to other persons• Citizens verify the identity of the people who call them by communicating through the official customer support channels, banking institutions

In case the perpetrators were declared any bank data during such a call, the public should IMMEDIATELY inform their Banking Institution to avoid unwanted use of their data and available funds.
