PAPHOS MUNICIPALITY BUYS BUILDINGS WORTH MORE THAN €3million - HOW WILL IT USE THEM?

 Filenews 15 February 2025

Pafos Municipality has acquired assets worth more than 3 million euros, according to Mayor Phedon Phedonos.

"We bought and transferred in the name of the Pafos Municipality the Eusebia club, the three houses that are right next door, one that is in the square of October 28 and the two that have a face on Ioannis Agrotou Street," he says in a video with which he wishes to inform the citizens of Pafos.

Furthermore, as he said, "we bought the three-storey building next to the Markideion Theatre. We bought the old Cooperative in Mouttalou district, the only Greek-Cypriot owned building located in the Turkish Cypriot quarter and at the same time, a few months ago we transferred to the name of the Pafos Municipality a donation of the house which is located on Apostolou Pavlou Street."

According to Mr. Phedonos, the maintenance and promotion of these buildings in the city begins this week, with the exception of the building behind Markideion, which will be demolished because there, along with some other expropriations, the aim is to expand the theater and create a garden theater.

"We will give life to the central square because the buildings that have been closed for decades will finally be put to use," he noted.

Also, he added, "the SPE in the Mouttalos district, which was closed for 40 years, will be renovated. Culture, office spaces where and where they are needed, focus, to bring people close to the squares."

"All this money is from our own savings," he concluded.
