On Sunday, March 2, 2025, increased traffic is expected on the Nicosia - Limassol motorway, due to the carnival parade in Limassol. For this reason, the Department of Public Works will proceed with the following traffic arrangements near the Kalavasos bridge. From 7:00 in the morning until 4:00 in the afternoon, the two lanes of traffic, in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia, will be closed, and traffic will be diverted to the old Limassol-Nicosia road via the Governor's Beach interchange and the Kalavasos interchange. From 9:00 in the morning of the same day until 2:00 in the afternoon, traffic, in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol, will proceed uninterruptedly on the motorway with both lanes of traffic open. After 4:00 in the afternoon, the traffic regulations, which are in force from 30/01/2025 to 15/05/2025, for the upgrade of the bridge, will apply. That is, the two lanes of the motorway towards Nicosia, approximately 1 km long, will be closed to traffic, and traffic will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic. Taking into account that on this particular day there is expected to be a particularly high level of traffic and a traffic congestion problem, the public is requested to plan their movement on the motorway in good time. They are also invited, where possible, to use alternative routes for their movements, especially when returning to Nicosia, also using the old Nicosia-Limassol.
