Nicosia will be filled in the next 48 hours by a large delegation of the Kapodistrian University, which arrives today in Cyprus, headed by the Rector of the university.
During the two-day visit, the Rector of Kapodistrias will be accompanied by a large team of academics and technical staff.
According to "F", the delegation of Kapodistrian will have meetings at the Presidential Palace, but also with the Archbishop of Cyprus and the Mayor of Nicosia.
Moreover, the University's descent into Nicosia was achieved after many efforts by the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, who, in cooperation with the Archdiocese, found the places where the first core of the University's branches could be housed.
Specifically, as "F" had written in a previous report, the Kapodistrian branch will operate in the Tarsi Arcade, in the center of Nicosia, buildings belonging to the Archdiocese and the Nicosia Municipality.
They bring medicine and nursing
The information of "F" reports that the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens has reportedly decided on its branches that will operate in Nicosia.
In particular, as "F" is aware, it must be considered certain that a Medical and Nursing School will operate in Nicosia, while the creation of a Department of Business Administration is not excluded.
At the same time, the offer of other study programs, such as Psychology and Philosophy, is on the table, however, their operation will depend on the decision of the Kapodistrian to create branches in other cities of Cyprus, since according to our information the Kapodistrian has expressed the desire to expand to other cities. In fact, during their two-day visit to Cyprus, meetings may also take place with institutions in other cities.
They got the "yes" from Greece
The arrival of a large delegation of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the acceleration of procedures come after the adoption of the relevant legislation in Greece that allows the operation of its branches abroad.
However, on the positive side, it is recorded that in the meantime, that is, until the legislation was passed, the Mayor of Nicosia, Charalambos Prountzos, moved quickly so as not to lose valuable time.
Today's developments are the result of the above actions, since the planning had not only been drawn up, but in the previous period had been preceded by several meetings in order to proceed with the procedures concerning the operation of their branches in Nicosia.
The intention from Kapodistrian exists, the buildings for its operation have been identified, while the Municipality seems to be moving quickly to close all pending issues and formalize its descent. What remains now is to announce the agreement, which seems to be very close to being signed, since the visit of a large delegation shows that there is no longer just an intention, but that all involved are already proceeding with the planning of the next day for the operation of the university in Cyprus.
