The Department of Labour Inspection of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance warns of four dangerous machines and one personal protective equipment (gloves) that do not meet EU safety requirements. The products are registered in the Rapid Information System (RAPEX) and are of Chinese origin.
According to the statement, these products pose serious risks of injury, electric shock and fire. The Department invites the public to avoid their use and to report any occurrences to the competent authorities.
What are these products?
According to the list of dangerous products published:
The first machine is a cutting attachment for brushcutters of Chinese origin with reference RAPEX: Report 02, Notification No SR/00055/25. It is noted that rivets attaching knives to the cutter can easily break. The knives can therefore detach during use and hit the user, causing injuries. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive nor with Commission Decision 2012/32/EU prohibiting the placing on the market of modular cutting parts for portable brushcutters. It is stated that the brand name of the product in question is Lesny and the type/number of model is 3612.


The second machine is a chainsaw of Chinese origin with RAPEX reference: Report 03, Alert No SR/00223/25. It is noted that the product poses a risk of injury due to the reduced mechanical strength of the chain, which may break or derail during use. Also, the engine acceleration control mechanism does not lock sufficiently, with the possibility of starting the engine unexpectedly. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive nor with the European standard EN 11681-1. It is stated that the brand name of the product in question is PowerTech and the type/number of model is PT 5200.


The third machine is an electric saw of Chinese origin with reference RAPEX: Report 04, Alert No SR/00277/25. It is added that the product poses a risk of electric shock and fire due to operator access to electrified parts due to overheating, subsequent ignition and conversion of metal parts into electrified ones. Also, an electrified element is located at a short distance from the outer shell. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive. Product details note that this is a cordless reciprocating saw with lithium battery adapter, JUSFIT brand name and model type/number MD20-20.

The fourth machine is an electric saw of Chinese origin with reference RAPEX: Report 04, Notification No SR/00308/25. It is noted that the product poses a risk of electric shock and fire due to operator access to electrified parts due to overheating, subsequent ignition and conversion of metal parts into electrified ones. Also, an electrified element is located at a short distance from the outer shell. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Machinery Directive. The product details indicate that it is a wireless electric key with power supply, JUSFIT trademark and model type/number JLX12.

Protective gloves of Chinese origin are not sufficient protection against abrasion and can be easily torn and users are at risk of abrasions. The product does not comply with the requirements of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Regulation nor with the European standard EN 388. The product details note that the product in question is called Amet, trademark cxs, batch number 2021/540, model/number 3640 021 800 10 and barcode 8591940213060.

The Department of Labour Inspection invites consumers, in case they find these products in the Cypriot market, to inform the competent Officers of the Department by telephone at 22405663 or 22405610 or 22405631 or 22879033.
