CUT - THE COLLECTION OF AERIAL DATA FOR THE MAPPING OF THE MAVROKOLYMBOS DAM HAS BEEN COMPLETED

 Pafos Live 21 February 2025

The Department of Civil and Geoinformatics Engineering, Cyprus University of Technology, has successfully completed the collection of geospatial data at Mavrokolymbos Dam, using modern equipment that allows accurate mapping and mapping of large areas.

Advanced drone platforms, ideal for mapping and mapping applications, were deployed for the mission, supporting multiple payloads, including airborne LiDAR with a high-precision IMU system, as well as an optical and multispectral sensor. The aim was the detailed mapping of the Mavrokolymbos dam area and the collection of high-precision spatial data.

The above sensors, with their capabilities, make the CONNECTING research infrastructure of the POMIE department ideal for infrastructure inspections, mapping and research applications. The final results of the mapping will be provided to the Water Development Department for further analysis and actions.

The project team included both academic and research members, as well as doctoral and undergraduate students, who had the opportunity to see in practice the use of advanced mapping and mapping technologies (Prof. Dimitrios Skarlatos, Assistant Prof. Apostolos Papakonstantinou, Dr. Stylianos H''Petrou, PhD Marinos Vlachos, PhD Minister Nicolas Milllos, PhD Kyriakos Michaelides, Research associate George Kafataris and student Stylianos Michael).
