 Pafos Live 28 February 2025

Members of the Limassol Crime Detection Department (ICF) transferred, on February 26, 2025, from Greece to Cyprus, a 40-year-old man, who was handed over by the Greek authorities, after completing his prison sentence in Greece.

After serving his sentence, the 40-year-old was handed over to the Cypriot authorities to serve a 12-year prison sentence imposed by the Limassol Assize Court (in 2012 in his absence) for a robbery case.

Four European arrest warrants were pending against the 40-year-old, issued by the Republic of Cyprus.

One warrant was for him to serve a 12-year prison sentence, while the other three were for seven other cases, including offenses such as armed robbery, car arson, illegal possession and transportation of a firearm, escape from lawful detention, etc.

For the above cases, the 40-year-old was arrested on the basis of the national arrest warrants pending against him and then, after being questioned in writing, he was transferred to the Central Prison to serve his 12-year prison sentence.

The presence of the Police was noticeable last night in the community of Palodia, following the publication of Filenews and the complaints of residents about a group of minors, who carry out malicious actions on the power lines of the EAC overhead network, resulting in power outages.

As we were informed, the report caused the immediate response of the Police, members of which went to the area from the afternoon and proceeded to patrol until 22:30 in the evening. EAC crews also rushed to the area, which carried out voltage checks.

In a post, the Community Council of Palodia wrote:

"Enough! From today, patrols in Palodia will be daily. Juvenile delinquency will not go unanswered. The jokes are over. The Community Council will assist in this effort, ensuring order and safety in our community."

As Filenews reported yesterday, daily residents of the area face power outages in their homes, mainly during the afternoon hours, when they were at home, either reading with their children or preparing food.

Power cuts also affect elderly people, some of whom have serious health problems and need a constant supply of oxygen. Residents of the area said they were indignant with the situation, while criticizing the fact that the police authorities, despite repeated complaints, have so far failed to identify the juvenile perpetrators.

Police investigations are continuing at this stage in the case with the group of "80", who allegedly declared allegiance to the American flag, did not recognize the Republic of Cyprus and were handling cases of citizens with problematic loan agreements.

A total of six arrest warrants had been issued in the case against an equal number of people, but none of them are currently in custody.

Analytically:

>> Initially, a 62-year-old and a 43-year-old woman were arrested. An 8-day detention order was issued against them in order to facilitate police investigations in a case involving the investigation of a double-digit number of offences.

>> Subsequently, the 62-year-old, before his detention order expired, was transferred (20/2) to a "psychiatric center of safe temporary duration" for compulsory hospitalization, following his psychiatric evaluation. He was released from detention. As for the 43-year-old, when her second detention order expired, she was released.

>> An arrest warrant was also issued for 45-year-old Kostas Patsalidis, who has been wanted for days on suspicion of the offences under investigation.

>> A 72-year-old man was arrested (18/2) on suspicion of complicity after committing an offence and interfering with judicial proceedings. According to police, the 45-year-old wanted man was found at the 72-year-old's home from where he prepared one of his videos that he made public.

>>Two more persons were arrested (20/2), who after being interrogated were released. They are 45-year-old and 42-year-old.

It should be noted that in the previous days, the ICF Headquarters obtained testimonies supporting the scenario that leaders who espouse the American philosophy of "Sovereign Citizen" were financially exploiting people with problematic loan contracts.

According to these testimonies, the 62-year-old and the wanted man, 45-year-old Kostas Patsalidis, told people with troubled loan agreements that they would help them handle their affairs with financial institutions and loan servicing companies.

Posing as "federal officials", appointed by the Postman General of the Planet, they explained to desperate borrowers their military-infused philosophy and, finally, persuaded them to send documents and writings to organizations that handled their loans with these bizarre positions of non-recognition of their debts.

Among other things, the Police, and in particular the ICF Headquarters, investigate offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, publication of false news, impersonation, threat, preparation and circulation of a false document and participation in a criminal organization.
