Even court proceedings were reportedly postponed by the group of "80" controlled by the police on suspicion of criminal activity, based on their theory... affiliation to the American flag.
According to information available to the Police, in October 2023 dozens of persons appeared in threatening moods at the Limassol District Court, where court proceedings were to take place with an accused, who is alleged to be a member of the said group.
According to official police reports, 30 to 40 persons, who were green in green attire, went to the Court, made a riot and "provocatively reported aloud" that they do not recognize the Republic of Cyprus, its institutions and the Courts. As a result, the court proceedings were postponed for the next day. Specifically, the court proceedings were set for 2/10/2023 and finally after this episode it was postponed to 3/10/2023.
All the above are recorded in an official letter, which was sent by the Limassol District Police Directorate (ADE) on December 5, 2024 to the Police Headquarters.
The action of these individuals who, as they claim, fall under the American flag, do not recognize the Republic and identify themselves as entities and not natural persons, using military terminology, began to be felt from 2023.
As we noted in our reports, they acted as protectors of people with problematic loan agreements and sent letters to official bodies, stating that they did not recognize them, while at the same time revealing threatening moods. According to our report yesterday, this group sent letters to companies managing problematic loans. Through the correspondence, they cited international agreements, U.S. law enforcement and other miscellaneous to tell the companies that they do not recognize their actions in servicing loans as legitimate.
Even the Commission for the Protection of Competition received such a threat, as revealed yesterday by "F". Executives of the Association of Cyprus Banks (CCT) had identical experience. According to the evidence submitted to the ICF Headquarters, the Association received letters from this group and informed the Police. This is because the CCB considered that there may be a potential risk for members and staff of the Hellenic Bank Association. A number of letters were reportedly sent by this group between 2023 and 2024 and to a company that handles electronic auctions.
As for the content of these documents, the following letter extract is indicative: "(...) I therefore order that you immediately cease hostile actions and tactics against me, including the illegal conduct of an electronic auction. If these actions continue, the result will be your arrest and detention in a military court under the law of war and the international military treaty of '16, to which Cyprus is a signatory.
On another occasion, a member of the group in question reportedly told a person: "Let me talk to the group and talk to each other." One of the testimonies that reached the police shows another person who embraced the philosophy of belonging to the American flag telling a third person that "in a few weeks everything will be over, 12,000 commandos will intervene". He said he was part of "a committee that judges politicians" and that they would make arrests and take those arrested to The Hague Tribunal.
All of this may be described as ludicrous, but it was causing concern among executives of loan servicing companies, agencies and other services. That is why some of the recipients of these letters informed the police as a precaution.
Most of the documents of this organization were countersigned by the 62-year-old arrested F.S. and the 45-year-old wanted K.P. (initialled on stamp and fingerprint). We remind you that a 43-year-old woman who is allegedly related to the aforementioned organization is also in custody.
The offences investigated against them are those of conspiracy to commit a Felony (punishable by up to seven years in prison), conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, possession of a plaque or instrument used for the manufacture of seals presented as official seals in the Republic (up to one year and a fine), publication of false news that may undermine public order or public confidence in the State or organs (up to two years), impersonation by a public official (imprisonment for three years), participation in and acceptance of crimes (up to ten years or with a fine of up to 50,000 euros), participation in a criminal organisation (subject to imprisonment for three years), threat (subject to imprisonment not exceeding three years), misuse of authority and drawing up and circulating a false document (general forgery subject to imprisonment for three years).
