An immediate sentence of 15 days in prison, as well as activation of the 25-day imprisonment imposed on her with a three-year suspension in 2022, was imposed today (13/2) by the Limassol Family Court on a mother who did not comply with a court order for her child's contact with his father and her ex-husband. The father hasn't seen his child for four years.
The case had been published by Filenews, as on April 19, 2022, the Family Court, through a multi-page decision, described the relations of the two parents and the circumstances that led the case to justice. The mother was charged with disobeying a contact order by not allowing the father to see his child.
At the time, the court noted the mother's contempt for the decree, stressing that she did not respect either the court order or the father's need to maintain ties with his 7-year-old child. In addition, he stressed that the child's right of contact with his father is fundamental. According to the evidence in the case, the father had not seen his son since March 5, 2020, a fact that was not disputed.
The judge had then imposed on the mother a 25-day prison sentence suspended for three years, taking into account her remorse, as well as the fact that the decision was handed down during holidays, so that the child would not be deprived of his mother.
Despite the second chance she was given, the mother did not comply with the decision and continued to refuse to hand over the child to his father for more than two years, preventing him from exercising the visiting rights provided for in the decree.

From 10:30 in the morning of Wednesday (12/2) the hearing for the murder of Thanasis Kalogeropoulos was underway.
As Filenews had previously reported, the victim's wife initially testified and was examined in a short process. Subsequently, the representative of the Prosecution, Loukas Karnos, handed over a text with admitted facts, which had been agreed by both sides.
Subsequently, an eyewitness, who is included in the indictment, was called to testify before the Assize Court. This is the person who was in the parking lot and talked for a few minutes with Thanasis Kalogeropoulos, before he was murdered.
The witness's statement was read out by the representative of the Prosecution. In particular, he mentioned that he has been visiting this parking lot daily for years, as he goes swimming.
Around 8:30 in the morning, he entered his vehicle to depart, when at the same time Thanasis Kalogeropoulos, who often visited the area, arrived with his car. The witness, while inside his vehicle, greeted the victim. "I greeted him, he greeted me and asked me about the water temperature. I said it was 24 degrees."
A few seconds later, while in his car with his seatbelt fastened, he noticed a man entering the parking lot from the east." The man was wearing black clothes and a carnival mask while holding a large automatic rifle," which the witness said looked like a Kalashnikov.
Realizing that something bad was going to happen, he instinctively leaned quickly into his car, leaning on the parking brake. Soon after, he heard gunshots, which he described as isolated shots to shots rather than bursts.
He then saw Kalogeropoulos' vehicle with broken glass and immobilized on a wall, near the exit of the parking lot.
The witness said he did not notice the presence of a second assailant, nor could he see how the attackers arrived or escaped. He noted, however, that he saw a young, thin woman with her husband, who had watched the events and was in a state of shock.
After the murder, he claimed, he asked the owner of the beach restaurant if the victim was alive, to which he replied that he had probably died. The ambulance and police were then notified.
During his cross-examination by the representative of the Prosecution, the witness stated that the perpetrator held the gun close to his chest.
When asked how he reacted, he said he was in shock: "I opened the door to get out of the car, but I couldn't because I was wearing my seat belt. From the shock, I didn't understand it." After getting out of the vehicle, he sat down in the parking lot.
When asked when he left the scene, he said that about 20 minutes later he went to his office, where he took a bath. It was there that – as he said – he fully realized what had happened.
His cross-examination process followed, with lawyers for defendants 1 and 3 not asking questions of the witness.
After the completion of the cross-examination of the eyewitness, it is expected that the process of submitting evidence numbering about 250 by the evidence examiner will proceed.
