The repair of the damage to the Mavrokolymbos dam is in progress, as the Water Development Department has identified the cause of the leak, which is related to damage to the ventilation pipe of the discharge pipe.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Andreas Gregoriou, although alternative ways of repairing the damage were examined, there is no immediately feasible solution due to the construction characteristics of the pipe.
The restoration will take place once the dam is completely empty, while rainfall is expected to replenish water in the area.
