The Police announce that regarding traffic violations recorded by the Photo Labelling System, a large number of extrajudicial fines are pending (forms GL 276A) which have not been received by the owners of the vehicles involved in these violations.

The cases concern the period between 1/1/2022 – 30/9/2024 and vehicle owners are urged to take care to check whether their vehicle has been recorded by the Light Labelling System and then settle any pending issues.

The procedure for identifying and paying extrajudicial fines is as follows:

1. The interested party may visit the website of the contractor (www.CyCameraSystem.com.cy) and enter:

(a) the registration number of his vehicle; and

Subsequently, he/she will be able to ascertain a) whether any extrajudicial fine is pending against him/her, b) the number of extrajudicial fines pending and c) the serial number of each extrajudicial fine.

If the interested party wishes immediate payment, he can visit the website of the Police (www.police.gov.cy) and follow the relevant procedure.

For the details of the violation, he can contact during any working day only, through 80008009 telephone number, between the hours of 08:00-17:00, to be given the code of the extrajudicial fine and to gain access to the details of the violation, which he will locate on the website of the contractor company.

At the same time, the public can contact the same telephone number (80008009) in case they face any problem in relation to payment or registration of data.

If the owner of a vehicle finds that he was not driving his vehicle himself, at the time of recording the offense he can and is under a legal obligation, to indicate the driver.

The driver can be indicated directly, electronically, on this website, without the need to get involved in a bureaucratic process.

It is noted that under the Traffic Offences (Use of Light Labelling Devices and Other Related Matters) Law (Law 55(I)2001, the owner is obliged to disclose, (in this case) through a relevant registration, the details of the person driving his vehicle at the time of recording the violation.

If the registered owner fails to provide any information regarding the identity of the driver, he is guilty of an offence according to article 21 of the Motor Vehicles and Traffic Law, Law 86/72.

It is clarified that the repayment period of the out-of-court fines, which are pending, starts from January 8, 2025 and will last until March 31, 2025. After this period, in case the owner of a vehicle does not take care to pay any extrajudicial fine against him, for violation or violations that have / have been recorded by the Photo Labelling System, a criminal file will be formed and will be subject to criminal prosecution, without further delay.

The whole procedure and the possibility of paying extrajudicial fines will not apply to cases for which cases have already been registered before the Court. Furthermore, the Police wishes to bring to the public's attention that the out-of-court arrangement, among other things, aims to avoid criminal prosecution and to save valuable time for the Police and the Courts.
