Pafos Press 24 January 2025
By judgment of the Court of Justice 20.1.2025 the Municipality of Pafos was vindicated, ten years after the filing of a lawsuit against it in the Pafos District Court, by which the company Infopoint Ltd sought damages and lost profits amounting to € 220,000, under an agreement, the validity of which had expired since 2011.
Specifically, the company had contracted with the Municipality of Pafos in 2007 and undertook the installation, operation and management of electronic information stations (Infokiosks) in public open spaces. The agreement expired in 2011 with financial differences between the parties and although it was never renewed, the company refused to move the stations and continued to economically exploit the public points where they were located, preventing the implementation of municipal projects in progress, resulting in the Municipality 4 years after the expiration of the agreement – and after several recommendations and written warnings – to proceed with its crews, on their move in December 2015. The company filed a lawsuit against the municipality claiming €220,000 plus interest.
The Court ruled that the stations' stay at public points was illegal and therefore their legal movement did not cause any damage for which the company is entitled to compensation from the Pafos Municipality.
The Municipality of Pafos was represented by the law office of Mr. Andreas Polydorou.
