An exciting and interactive public art event is set to illuminate Limassol’s streets this January. On the afternoon of January 26, Ypogeia Skini will present the artistic intervention Light Points, transforming public spaces into a canvas of storytelling and light.
This intervention marks the first phase of a broader initiative focused on a walking route that explores selected historic cultural heritage sites around the Polichoros Synergeio area. Carefully curated to form a cohesive path, these often-overlooked locations will be brought to life through artistic interventions, each “telling” its unique story and inviting connection with the audience.
The project draws from the research of Sevina Floridou, an architect and cultural heritage expert, who identified nine historically and culturally significant sites in the area. Complementing her work, visual artist Julia Georgiadou and lighting designer Vasilis Peteinaris have created bespoke artistic lighting for each site. Their collaboration reimagines these spaces, turning public areas into vibrant expressions of art and memory.
This one-of-a-kind experience is free to attend and open to all ages. Attendees are invited to explore the city, uncover hidden histories, and reflect on the significance of familiar yet often forgotten urban spaces. The event begins at 6pm, starting from Four Lanterns Bridge at the Linear Park.
