At the initiative of Hermes Airports, the conference "Beyond Sea & Sun" was organized under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, focusing on the evolution of Cyprus into a year-round tourist destination.
The initiative aimed to initiate a productive dialogue on sustainable tourism of the next day, shaping a road map where the promotion of the culture and experiences offered by our country, the protection of the environment, the development of infrastructure and sustainable tourism activity coexist in harmony. The conference brought together leading personalities from the political and business world, as well as people with innovative ideas and impact on the tourism industry, with discussions and presentations on the future of Cypriot tourism for society, economy, entrepreneurship and the environment, in today's rapidly changing context.
At the same time, proposals for managing problems and alternative tourism models, new research recording international trends, views on Cypriot tourism were presented, while both the necessary interventions to be made at infrastructure level and the legislative framework governing the sector were discussed.The conference was introduced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, who presented the government's vision for the development of tourism, stressing the importance of cooperation between all stakeholders.
During the conference, important initiatives were highlighted, such as the necessity of developing new tourism products with emphasis on gastronomy, culture, nature and authentic experiences that can give Cyprus a competitive advantage, the need to reposition Cyprus in the international tourism market with a new identity as well as the improvement of infrastructure and the development of human resources. The conference concluded with the recording of the proposals and topics discussed.
