ALMOND BLOSSOM FESTIVAL
Central Square, Yiolou

The almond blossoms, the first flowers of the year, the flowers that send their optimistic pulse over the frozen earth, inviting life to begin a new cycle in the process of nature's rebirth, are celebrated in all their glory this year in Yiolou village, with a purely thematic and multidimensional festival, showcasing the unique treasures of the village.
The festival will open with a children's dance group, there will be experiential workshops for children, where flowers, almonds and almond wood become inspiration and source of creation, under the guidance of 4 professional trainers.
The musical and dancing group of KTIMA Folklore Club will accompany the program, along with other professionals, for a day full of joy and hope.
The community is preparing a thematic welcome for the visitors, which will take place at the central square, and visitors will be able to taste several products made from almonds, as 25 exhibitors will participate in the festival with almond products, as well as arts and crafts, cosmetics and soaps with almond oil and almond aroma.
The churches of the village (Chryseleousa, Agia Irini, Agios Georgios and Agios Markos) will be open for the pilgrims from 10:00 – 17:00. Also the Museum of Folk Tradition, the photo exhibition and the traditional flour mill of the village will be open for a visit.
The taverns of the village will be open for food and local delicacies with almonds.
Finally, there will be designated spots for taking pictures of the beautiful landscape of the village

11:00 – 11:10 Songs by the children of Yioloυ Primary School and Kindergarten Choirs
11:10 – 11:30 Dances by the dance group, of the children of the village
11:30 – 11:40 Official inauguration:
Welcome speech by the President of the Community Council Mr. Christakis Papanikolaou and a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment
11:40 - 13:00 Live Traditional Music and dances from Folklore Group: KTIMA
11:00 – 17:00 Creative children’s workshops
Under the guidance of 4 professional trainers, at the courtyard of Agia Irini church. Almond blossoms, almonds & almond wood , become an inspiration & source of creativity. At the same time there will be a painting and photography exhibition by the children of the Primary School and Kindergarten of Yiolou
16:00 – 16:10 Award ceremony for the students who excelled in the painting and photography competition
16:10 – 17:30 Live Music, tribute to Greek song and dances with the participation of the audience
Parallel Activities
Thematic Almond welcome of the visitors, with traditional delights from Yiolou.
There will be 24 Exhibitors with almond products, as well as arts and crafts, cosmetics and soaps
with almond oil and almond aroma.
