Many and fast changes in the weather patterns around the island this week, as a high pressure system that brought sunshine and much welcome low 20s is gradually giving way to a low pressure days, starting tomorrow, according to the latest forecast by the National Department of Meteorology.
The system that formed in the Aegean, is moving southeast and will start showing some teeth tomorrow, bringing storms and hail in certain areas.
Partly overcast with sunny spells today, with the possibility of isolated light showers, mostly on the mountains. Winds will be mainly southeast to southwest, light to moderate, force three to four over moderate seas.
Temperatures will rise to 17 degrees Celsius inland, 19 along the coasts and 8 on the mountains.
Partly overcast tonight with light mostly northwest to northeast winds, force three, over moderate seas. Temperatures will drop to 5 degrees Celsius inland, 10 along the coast and 2 on the highest reaches of the Troodos mountains where frost is expected to form.
Overcast skies will bring local showers and isolated thunderstorms tomorrow, mainly from midday onwards, initially in the west and north and gradually around the rest of the island. Hail is possible during thunderstorms, while snow is likely on Troodos.
Isolated showers in certain areas on Tuesday, the last day of the low pressure system, as Wednesday sees a return to sunshine, with scattered cloud at intervals. Temperatures will remain around the seasonal average.
