In the Strait of Malacca in Malaysia is located the floating gas unit "ETYFA-Prometheus", where technical inspections are carried out to evaluate the ship, Minister of Energy, Trade and Industry, George Papanastasiou, told CNA.
According to marinetraffic.com website, the ship, which set sail from Shanghai on December 14, has been docked in a Malaysian port since Christmas Eve. The minister told CNA that the ship is expected to be evaluated there by an independent engineering company, with DEFA choosing Malaysia for this purpose, as there are "more available and more professional services".
In relation to the response he expects from the Greek Minister of Environment and Energy, Theodoros Skylakakis, to the 10-page letter sent by Papanastasiou in early December, in which the comments of Cyprus' advisers on the issue of Cyprus' participation in the GSI share capital were quoted, the Minister said that he has not yet received the relevant response.
Asked whether the Government's decision on participation or not in the share capital depends on it, he said that the Greek Minister's response is very important and will be part of the evaluation of the decision to be taken, but the decision will not be judged by it alone.
