PAPHOS REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY - SUCCESS AND PARTICIPATION IN A NEW PROGRAMME FOR 'SMART TOURISM' Within the framework of the Paphos region's strategy to become an even smarter destination, Paphos Regional Development Authority is claiming funding at a pan-European level for the purpose of investments for its digital upgrade. Paphos' new success and the destination's participation in the SMART-TOUR (Smart Tourism - Smart Destinations) project will contribute to strengthening the destination in the areas of Accessibility, Digitization, Sustainability, Cultural Heritage and Creativity. The aim of the project is to facilitate the development and promotion of 'Smart Tourism' and 'Smart Destinations', contributing to a smarter Europe, through the digital transition.
The project will specifically address aspects of digitalization of tourist destinations, digital services to visitors, digital infrastructure and networks with the aim of being included in the policies and strategies of the cooperating tourist destinations of the project.
The project involves 10 European partners from Italy, France, Germany, Hungary, Greece, Romania, Albania, Ukraine, Belgium and Cyprus. It is 80% funded by the European Union and the duration of the program is 36 months.
In his statements, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ETAP Pafos, Mr. Kyriakos Drousiotis, congratulated the company's staff on this new success and emphasized the fact that together with the Board of Directors, ETAP is committed to its goal of establishing itself even further as a "Smart Destination" in the coming years.
As pointed out by the Paphos Tourism Development and Promotion Agency, for the year 2025 it has planned a number of actions for the development and promotion of 'Smart Tourism' and 'Smart Destination' making the Paphos district even more competitive.
The Paphos Region Tourism Development and Promotion Agency is expected to absorb funds of up to €200,000 from the said program.
