MAJOR ROAD WORKS

From Monday 25/11/2024 until Thursday 05/12/2024, excluding Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning of the next day, work will be carried out to install reflective studs at the junctions of the Limassol - Paphos motorway (A6) towards Paphos. During the execution of the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 500m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On a section of the Larnaca Airport – Ayia Napa motorway, during the period 22/11/2024 – 10/12/2024, between the hours of 06:00 – 07:00 in the morning, daily as well as on Saturdays, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to the temporary exit created before the existing Livadia exit, in the direction of Ayia Napa, heavy vehicles will be transported by a private company. The movement of traffic police in the traffic lanes behind and next to the transport vehicles will be controlled with the escort of Police patrol cars. Traffic next to the transport vehicles will be prohibited.

On the Limassol-Paphos motorway, on the section from Erimi to the Bridge near Petra tou Romiou, during the period 28/5/2024 – 15/12/2024, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:30, irrigation works will be carried out on the plantations within the central island by the Forestry Department. During the works, the right lane in one direction of the road will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, in the section from the Germasogeia roundabout to the Hospital roundabout in both directions, during the period 02/12/2024-19/12/2024, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 06:00 in the morning of the next day, daily except Fridays and weekends, rainwater gutter cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In the Larnaca district, on the Larnaca Airport-Ayia Napa and Larnaca-Kofinos motorways, during the period 11/11/2024-30/12/2024, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the motorways in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 500 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. On the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, during the period 09/09/2024 – 23/12/2024, bridge upgrade/repair works will be carried out on the Kalavasos bridge. During the works, the two lanes of the highway towards Limassol, approximately 1 km long, will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate in two-way traffic. Also, the entrance to the highway, towards Limassol, from the old Limassol - Nicosia road at the Zygi junction will be closed and traffic from the old road to the highway will be diverted via the Governor's Beach junction. On the Limassol-Paphos highway and the Limassol Bypass, from Thursday 07/11/2024 until Thursday 05/12/2024, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:30-16:00, sweeping works will be carried out on the shoulders in both directions. The cleaning works will be carried out on the shoulder of the road, without affecting the traffic lanes. Also on the Limassol Bypass, in the section from the New Hospital junction to the Mouttagiakas junction, from Monday 11/11/2024 to Thursday 05/12/2024, from 20:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, Monday to Thursday, cleaning works of rainwater grates will be carried out. During the works, one lane of the motorway will be closed in sections over a length of 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Also on the Limassol Bypass, from the Germasogeia roundabout to the New Hospital roundabout in both directions, from Monday 02/12/2024 until Monday 16/12/2024, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:00 the next morning, repair work will be carried out on energy absorption systems (crash cushion). During the work, one lane of the Bypass will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 300m at a time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In Larnaca, the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, from the height of the Oroklini Fire Station to the Oroklini Organized Beach (Kiosk), will be closed to traffic in both directions from 03/7/2024 and for seven months, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca - Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C". During the works, traffic will be diverted via Galaxia Street to Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.

From Friday 19/7/2024 and for a period of approximately 6 months, construction works will be carried out on a roundabout on Akamantos Street near the Church of Panagia Zalakiotissa in Pegeia. During the execution of the works, traffic to and from Pegeia will be diverted via Racherou, Sarakkou and Koliakas Streets, in accordance with the on-site road markings. Only residents will be allowed to enter the intermediate work area. In Lakatamia, works will be carried out on Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street, from Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue to Pefkou Street, starting from Friday 12/5/2023 and for a period of 20 months, as part of the improvement/construction of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and a section of Tseriou Avenue and Strovolou Street. At the same time, during the same period, as part of the reconstruction of Ippokratous Avenue, Themistokleous Street and Areos Avenue will be closed from their intersection with Themistokleous Street to Nikaias Street and Kentavrou Street respectively. In the Limassol district, on the Kato Platres-Prodromos road, from Monday 09/09/2024 to Friday 20/12/2024, from 06:30 to 16:00, daily, CFP wall lifting works will be carried out on sections of the road. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time for a length of approximately 100m and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. On the old Paphos-Limassol road, from 13/5/2024 to 12/5/2025 (for 12 months), construction works will be carried out to stabilize a section of the road, near Petra tou Romiou (near the CTO refreshment bar in Petra tou Romiou). During the works, the section of the road being reconstructed will not be available to traffic. There will be continuous and unhindered traffic by the traffic police on both sides of the construction site. Traffic on the old Paphos - Limassol road in the direction from Paphos to Limassol will be diverted from the Petra tou Romiou exit (after Aphrodite Hills on the left) and from Limassol / Pissouri to Paphos from the Pissouri exit, on the Paphos - Limassol motorway. Also, on the old Paphos - Limassol road, in the section near Petra tou Romiou, construction work on road stabilization measures will be carried out between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025. Specifically, the works will be carried out to stabilize the slope and the road surface, as part of the 2nd Phase of the works being carried out on the road, following the major landslides that had occurred since 2019. During the works period, 17/06/2024-16/06/2025, a section of the old Limassol-Paphos road, near Petra tou Romiou, will be temporarily closed to traffic in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol. The temporary signage will be the same as in the 1st Phase of Works. Specifically, the necessary signage and information will be placed on the parallel section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, as well as on the two cut-off sections on the old Limassol-Paphos road, near the western Pissouri-Petra tou Romiou exit and near the Kouklia exit, to inform drivers intending to head towards Petra tou Romiou. In the Vasilikos area, from Thursday, February 22, 2024, fencing works are underway at the Vasilikos Energy Center, which will last until February, 2025. During the period October, 2024 – December, 2024, works will be carried out to upgrade bus stops and shelters on urban roads in the districts of Nicosia, Limassol, Paphos, Larnaca, and Famagusta. The works include excavations on sidewalks to create foundations and then installation of new shelters at bus stops.
