Filenews 7 December 2024
The Consumer Protection Service of the Ministry of Commerce has sent in recent days to large supermarkets, the CCCI and other retail trade bodies the list of 480 products it requests to be included in the comparative application of e-kalathi prices, during its trial application.
Supermarkets and suppliers are working on the list and will submit their comments to the Service in the coming days.
During yesterday's meeting of the Minister of Commerce George Papanastasiou with the President of the CCCI Stavros Stavrou and other executives of the Chamber, it was decided to start the pilot implementation of e-kalathi from December 20. It was also decided to make a detailed presentation of the operation of e-kalathi in the coming days, with real data, so that retail operators can evaluate the application and submit Views.
Conclusions will be drawn from the pilot implementation of e-kalathi, so that with the additions that will be deemed necessary, the system will be completed and consumers will be given officially at the end of February, with about 4,000 products, so that consumers can compare prices (per product or per list of shopping products) before deciding what and where to buy.
