APPLICATIONS FOR SOLAR HOT WATER SYSTEMS NOW OPEN

 Filenews 3 December 2024

The Management Committee of the RES and EE Fund announced the opening of applications for the "Subsidy Scheme for Solar Hot Water Production Systems in Residences 2024", noting that the process will remain open until the final submission of a total of 1,500 applications in the two categories of the Scheme.

"The Subsidy Scheme provides for a grant for the installation or replacement of integrated water heating systems (hot water cylinder and solar panels), the equipment of which meets minimum technical criteria," the announcement reads.

It specifies that installations must be made by participating certified installers, from the "List of Participating Installers" and the equipment to be installed must be included in the "List of Eligible Equipment", which is pre-approved and codified.

The grant amount per application/residence is €500 for the General Category, with an increase to €900 for houses falling within the Mountain Areas. For vulnerable households, the grant amounts to €900.

"Before the implementation of the installation, applicants should obtain pre-approval," the announcement reads, adding that the start of installation works before the granting of pre-approval is, based on the provisions of the Plan, a reason for rejection.

"In addition to submitting applications, the Management Committee of the RES and EE Fund invites interested professionals to take the necessary steps to register in the List of Participating Installers," the announcement concludes.

The Subsidy Scheme aims to provide financial incentives, in the form of government sponsorship, for the installation or replacement of integrated solar hot water production systems in existing homes.

  • It is emphasized that BEFORE the implementation of the installation you must obtain PRE-APPROVAL. The application shall be rejected if it is established that the installation work of the new system had begun before the granting of PRIOR AUTHORISATION.
  • Eligible installations are installations made by installers included in the LIST OF PARTICIPATING INSTALLERS.
  • The equipment to be installed (cylinders and frames) must be included in the LIST OF ELIGIBLE EQUIPMENT.
